Why Professional Custom Framing Matters More Than You Think
A picture frame does far more than simply hold a piece of artwork. The right frame protects treasured memories, preserves valuable artwork, and transforms something meaningful into a beautiful feature for your home.
That's why we're excited to announce that our in-house custom framing service is now operating from our dedicated workshop in Pampisford, Cambridgeshire.
With over 30 years of professional framing experience, we're continuing to offer the same expert craftsmanship our customers have trusted for decades—just from a new location.
Every Frame Tells a Story
One of the best parts of custom framing is seeing the incredible variety of items our customers bring through the door.
Some are valuable original paintings that deserve museum-quality protection. Others are sentimental keepsakes that hold priceless memories—a concert ticket from a first date, a signed football shirt, a completed jigsaw puzzle, or a certificate marking a major achievement.
No matter what the item is, our aim is always the same: to create a frame that protects it while showcasing it beautifully.
Why Choose Custom Framing?
Off-the-shelf frames can work for standard-sized prints, but they often don't provide the protection or finish that special pieces deserve.
With bespoke framing, every element is chosen specifically for your item, including:
- The perfect frame style and finish
- Mount board colour and design
- The most suitable glazing
- Materials that help preserve your artwork for years to come
A professionally framed piece not only looks better—it lasts longer too.
Crafted In-House From Start to Finish
Unlike many framing services, every frame we produce is made entirely in-house.
Working from our Pampisford workshop allows us to oversee every stage of the process, ensuring the highest standards of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
We carefully handcraft each frame using quality materials and traditional framing techniques, giving every project the time and care it deserves.
We Frame More Than Pictures
People are often surprised by just how many different items can be professionally framed.
Some of our most popular projects include:
- Original artwork and oil paintings
- Prints and family photographs
- Football programmes and sports memorabilia
- Signed sports shirts
- Concert tickets and gig posters
- Jigsaw puzzles
- Certificates and awards
- Needlework and textiles
- Personal keepsakes with sentimental value
If you're unsure whether your item can be framed, simply ask. We love helping customers find creative ways to display the things that matter most.
Choosing the Right Materials
Every project is different, which is why we offer a carefully selected range of framing options.
Choose from beautiful solid wood mouldings in a variety of finishes, alongside standard glass, Perspex (acrylic glazing), or premium Art Glass for exceptional clarity and reduced reflections.
We also stock a wide selection of acid-free mount boards, helping protect artwork while enhancing its overall presentation.
During your consultation, we'll guide you through the options and recommend the combination that best suits your piece.
A New Workshop, The Same Personal Service
Although our framing service has moved from our former Saffron Walden shop to our workshop in Pampisford, one thing hasn't changed—our commitment to providing friendly, personal service and high-quality craftsmanship.
Every customer receives individual advice, and every frame is made with the same care and attention we've built our reputation on over the past three decades.
Book Your Framing Consultation
Custom framing consultations are available by appointment, Wednesday to Friday.
When you get in touch, it's helpful to let us know what you'd like framed, the approximate size (if you know it), and any ideas you already have. This allows us to prepare frame samples and suggestions before your visit.
Most projects are completed within around one week, depending on the complexity of the work.
Whether you're preserving a valuable piece of art or celebrating a treasured memory, we'd love to help you create something you'll enjoy for years to come.
