What is a float frame?

A float frame is a type of picture frame that is designed to give the illusion that the artwork or object it holds is "floating" within the frame. Unlike a traditional picture frame, which has a lip that overlaps the edge of the artwork, a float frame has a gap between the artwork and the frame, allowing the edges of the artwork to be visible.

Float frames are commonly used for canvases, photographs, or other flat artwork, and they are popular because they provide a modern and minimalist look. The artwork is mounted within the frame using brackets or clips that hold it in place without obscuring any part of the image. Float frames are available in a variety of materials, such as wood or metal, and can be finished in different colours or textures to complement the artwork.

When selecting a float frame, it's important to choose one that is the appropriate size for your artwork and that will securely hold it in place.
