How to create a Frame Arrangement / Gallery wall

Creating a picture frame arrangement can be a fun and creative way to decorate your home or office. Here are some steps to follow to create a cohesive and visually appealing picture frame arrangement:

  1. Choose your frames: Start by selecting the picture frames you want to use. Consider the style, size, and colour of the frames, as well as the photos or artwork that you want to display in them.

  2. Plan your layout: Determine the layout of your picture frames by measuring the available space and experimenting with different arrangements. You can sketch out your ideas on paper or use a digital tool to create a mockup of the arrangement, we like to use publisher to show the proportions, and to easily move the boxes and arrange and rearrange the layout.

  3. Arrange the frames: Once you have a plan, it's time to start arranging the frames. Start with the largest frame and work your way outward, adjusting the placement of each frame as needed to create a balanced composition. You can use a level or measuring tape to ensure that the frames are straight and evenly spaced. Also remember, that the whole point of a gallery wall is for a displaced / scattered effect, the frames do not have to be completely even in spacing!

  4. Hang the frames: When you're happy with the arrangement, it's time to hang the frames. Use a hammer and nails or picture-hanging hardware to secure each frame to the wall. You can also use adhesive strips or hooks if you prefer not to make holes in the wall.

  5. Adjust and refine: After hanging the frames, step back and evaluate the arrangement. Make any necessary adjustments to the placement or spacing of the frames to ensure that they look balanced and cohesive.

Some additional tips to keep in mind:

  • Use frames of different sizes and shapes to create visual interest and variety.
  • Group frames together in sets of two or three for a more dynamic display.
  • Consider the colour of the wall when selecting frames to ensure that they complement each other.
  • Use a theme or colour scheme to tie the frames together and create a cohesive look.

With a little planning and creativity, you can create a picture frame arrangement that reflects your personal style and adds a personalized touch to your home.
